The Role:

The main focus of this role will be to be the upholder of all food safety and product quality standards. You will manage the QA and Technical teams and provide a specialist service to the business for technical and product knowledge. 

Communicate effectively between the business and its customers and suppliers to ensure that the technical needs of the business are being met.

Location: Dublin/Meath

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the team are managed with clear accountabilities
  • Co–ordinate effective maintenance of all technical standards of the business through effective auditing, training and proactive QMS
  • Review the QMS and recommend and implement improvements
  • Ensure that the QMS fully supports the business and manages all aspects of food safety and quality, enhances “right first time” culture and is audit friendly
  • Ensure that the QMS fully meets customer requirements and reflects an efficient delivery of customer KPI’s
  • Lead and co-ordinate the HACCP team
  • Ensure effective implementation of the HACCP plan and appropriate procedures within the QMS
  • Understand and apply all legal, regulatory and food safety requirements to the business.
  • Formulate, implement, monitor and develop the site QMS
  • Review and improve the internal audit programme and reporting procedure
  • Ensure suitable KPI’s are in place in order to effectively monitor and measure technical performance
  • Manage customer interface for all technical and quality matters
  • Co- ordinate involvement for all technical visits and customer audits, launches etc.
  • Be a specialist provider of technical and food safety knowledge to the business, ensuring that systems are in place to receive industry and any other relevant updates and knowledge
  • Support and participate in business improvement projects and actively drive continuous improvements
  • Manage supplier approval and monitor same
  • Support company NPD and EPD programme

Key Skills and Experience required:

  • Relevant 3rd level Food Science Qualification
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of BRC and supermarket retailer standards
  • HACCP training to Level 4 required
  • Lead auditor experience
  • Leadership qualities with proven relevant management ability
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Understanding of both customer and supplier relationship management
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written and numerical
  • Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Commercial understanding with analytical with problem solving ability
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience and sound practical knowledge of a high risk food manufacturing business
  • Possess strong leadership qualities with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability and confidence to make decisions and accept responsibility in a fast paced environment
  • Organised and self-motivated
