Business Development Manager - Global Ingredients

Our client has developed highly sophisticated sustainable ingredients offering who now wish to secure the appointment of a Business Development Manager.

This is a senior management position and the person appointed will be responsible to the CEO for the global business development function.

As Business Development Manager, you will lead the global expansion to establish their position in sustainable clean label ingredients.

The Role:

  • Work with the senior management team to develop and implement medium and long term strategic objectives for the company in identified markets
  • Provide the senior management team with accurate and timely market insights on key trends in the global marketplace
  • Identify and prioritise growth markets to develop business opportiunities and routes to markets with new customers
  • Identify and build relationships with potential strategic partners
  • Build relationships with key research institutions nationally and internationally
  • Work toward meeting and exceeding targets in relation to revenue, margins and mix of products sold
  • Ensure contact is regular with key accounts and conduct face to face visits and sales with desired customer sector as often as possible
  • Generate a continuous pipeleine of opportunities for BII to take to the market
  • Work with research institutions and the in house R&D team to develop new products that deliver on the market opportunities identified
  • Mainatin close relationships with BII production team and R&D team to refine existing product formats to meet customer requirements

The Individual:

  • Third Level or Master’s Degree in Business or related discipline and have previously worked with international sales and marketing of food ingredients
  • Five years plus senior level sales experience in a business commercial environment
  • A track record in developing relationships and routes to market with developing new markets being a distinct advantage
  • Background of building a business in both mature and emerging markets including experience of launching new products in international markets
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills combined with a high proficiency in IT
  • Prepared to spend a considerable time overseas developing new opportunities for the company
  • Great leadership skills with an ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Innovative and forward thinking mind-set
