Senior Technical and NPD Manager

We have partnered exclusively with Europe’s fastest-growing food company to source a Senior Technical and New Product Development Manager.

My client has recently invested €30million in expanding its world-class facility, the business is expected to double in the next 3-4 years.

The successful candidate will lead, grow and motivate a talented and established team of NPD, NPI, Technical and Quality Assurance employees. They will have overall responsibility for managing and supporting the delivery of innovative high quality products working closely with all internal teams in delivering business results.

This is a customer-facing role and will involve meeting clients from Ireland and the U.K. Using a combination of product and process knowledge, you will be responsible for the development of products from concept to delivery, using stage gate.

Role & requirements:

  • Owns the development lifecycle and responsibility for managing technical risks throughout projects
  • Provides technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for customer engagement from definition phase through implementation
  • Applies significant knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve consumer knowledge to our customers
  • Assesses product development deficiencies and implements effective solutions prior to factory trial execution
  • Executes the effective management of all the aspects of scale up trials through the NPI process teams
  • Identifies competent raw material suppliers that will support innovation at competitive pricing
  • Ensures Quality Management and Systems Compliance and quick reactive responses to customer enquiries on all aspects of product quality, food health and safety concerns
  • Manages all customer audit requirements (BRC/PIU/Ethical/etc.)
  • Complies with and helps to enforce best practice standards throughout the manufacturing facility
  • Manages customer interaction and expectations regarding new product development projects
  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships through consistency panel evaluation and quality improvement plans
  • Manages and develops the Technical, NPD and Quality teams through the Performance Management Process; facilitates effective team interaction
  • Deliver the budget targets for the department
  • Developing and implementing the next phase of the company’s sustainability program
  • Lead the development of the Origin Green Strategy
  • Coordination of quarterly and annual, internal meetings and external reporting

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

  • Third Level Degree in Food Science or similar
  • NPD/Technical/Quality Management experience - Consumer Food/Bakery - Minimum 8 years
  • Experienced with Irish & UK Retailers and/or Food Service companies
  • Demonstrate successful development & launch achievements
  • Creativity & Innovation
  • Strong Leadership, Influencing, Interpersonal & Relationship Building skills
  • Strategic & Analytical Thinker
  • Excellent Planning, Organising and Time Management skills
  • Experience in building, leading and developing teams
  • Change Management
