NPD Technologist

My client, a well-established Irish food producer, are seeking a Food Technologist to join their team in Kildare.

The main activity within this role is supporting Project Managers onsite. This requires a high level of understanding of both food science (meat & functional ingredients) and process technology so that you can deliver the required samples to the customer as outlined within each brief.

You will have an active role in problem solving for both new and existing products within the business, running effective meetings, maintaining clear records and managing change within the process.

The ability to work effectively in a team is essential for this role.

Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Main Duities:

  • Responsible for working with Project Managers at each stage of the internal stage gate process.
  • A strong understanding of food safety and HACCP are essential to this role. The person will receive detailed training on site to ensure adherence to existing standard operating procedures.
  • To demonstrate a high level of competence in food/meat science, food processing, food legislation, specifications and recipe management.
  • Prepare, organize and deliver customer presentations and attend off site where necessary.
  • Prepare and organize customer samples ensuring quality product delivered on time.
  • Product assessment including size assessment, shelf life testing, chemical analysis, compiling sensory, physical and photo standards for product specification.
  • To maintain a high standard of cleanliness when using any of the facilities within our facility from desks, kitchens, pilot plant to factory equipment.
  • Any other reasonable tasks as outlined by your direct Manager or head of department.

Key Skills and Requirements:

  • Excellent organisational skills to include reporting, adherence to systems and providing updates on a timely basis.
  • 2 years+ experience in NPD.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to lead and facilitate weekly meetings, organising meetings with agenda and action plan as a result.
  • Technically minded allowing for keen problem-solving ability using LEAN principles.
  • Independent and self-motivated using own initiative daily.
  • Ability to positively influence and encourage pace of projects and success.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Food Science Degree or similar.
