NPD Chef

I have a very exciting opportunity for an NPD Chef with experience in production to join one of Ireland’s leading bakery/confectionery producers. A very successful market-leader, this Dublin-based business is extremely innovative, dynamic and unique.

The NPD Chef will be a key decision maker regarding product development and will be given the freedom and responsibility to manage the development kitchen and lead tastings with key customers and stakeholders.

Supplying to major retailers and food service businesses, the successful candidate will gain excellent experience in a fast-paced environment and have the opportunity to see your products on sale 6 weeks post-brief.

Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and operational capabilities is essential to this position.

This is initially a 6-month full-time role with a strong view to permanency. Salary negotiable DOE.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Manage the NPD kitchen, ensuring excellent standards are maintained at all times
  • Own creative development resulting in the launch of new products in both current and new categories
  • Lead internal and customer tastings presenting products clearly, accurately and persuasively
  • Support the NPD department to meet and exceed business and customer expectations
  • Establish new raw material/supplier sourcing in line with NPD briefs
  • Maintain accurate records, concept recipe banks, formulation sheets and raw material trackers
  • Support and contribute to trials alongside operations, process and NPD
  • Participate in brainstorm sessions to build strong bank of ideas and focus development
  • Provide the business with trained development input and suggestions for improvement where required
  • Support the NPD department by providing samples to tight deadlines
  • Provide an understanding of trends, consumer insights, internal and external customer requirements to continually surpass competitors

Skills & experience required:

  • Culinary Arts Degree or similar beneficial
  • Genuine passion for food and knowledge and interest in the market trends and latest ingredients
  • Experience as a Development Chef within a food producer is essential
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, quality processes, technical abilities
  • Should have good communication skills – Be able to talk product and interact with various teams, lead tastings, feel comfortable presenting
  • Should be technical and also creative
  • Strong IT skills, highly organised and meticulous record keeping
  • Comfortable with working to tight deadlines and delivering results
