Logistics Manager

My client, a rapidly expanding and extremely successful Multinational business, is seeking a Logistics Manager to join their team in Kildare.

This newly created role will assist in developing and expanding the Organisation’s Supply Chain operation to meet the demands of the current rapid growth and expansion.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the arrival of products from the suppliers to distribution sites countrywide. They will continuously review the strategy, ensuring that the Supply Chain operates in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.

You’ll be trusted, encouraged and motivated to own the Supply Chain and make the right decisions. It will be demanding and challenging, but it is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant and tangible contribution to the Organisation's ongoing growth story in Ireland.

This is a full-time, permanent role. A very competitive benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate. Depending on travel restrictions, the candidate will complete 2-4 weeks training in the Business' European Head Office.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Manage, train and develop a team of Logistics Assistants and Administrators
  • Ensure constructive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Identify, investigate and introduce cost saving opportunities within the supply chain
  • Develop operational plans for implementation, while ensuring due diligence, stakeholder engagement, and accuracy of data is completed
  • Work closely with other Logistics Managers to ensure consistency, alignment and efficiency where areas overlap and to continuously improve service and cost
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with logistics service providers
  • Ensure performance of Logistics service providers is monitored and recorded to aid in continuous improvement
  • Obtain and verify transport rates from Logistics service providers to determine market rates for specific lanes
  • Develop and maintain a register of domestic and international freight rates, ensuring information is up to date
  • Monitor Logistics costs including fuel costs, freight costs and currency exchange rates
  • Review proposed logistics routes for operational viability and cost effectiveness
  • Conduct Logistics service provider audits in relation to movement of consignments, temperature and delivery window adherence
  • Check domestic and international freight invoices against contract rates in preparation for
  • authorization
  • Resolve any service provision issues that may arise in consultation with the Logistics Director
  • Carry out visits to suppliers, Logistics service providers and freight forwarders where necessary
  • Maintain a register of statutory requirements ensuring all information is up to date
  • Ensure adherence to all legal requirements in your area of responsibility
  • Complete year-end tasks
  • Supervise use of route optimization/transport management applications for inbound and outbound freight to ensure that region/division transport requirements are met on a daily basis
  • Calculate and confirm store delivery and backhaul charges
  • Coordinate with internal/external route optimization application providers to resolve any system issues and maintain continuous operations of all logistics applications critical to route generation
  • Liaise with pallet pooling suppliers to coordinate and monitor national requirements

Skills, qualifications & experience required:

  • 2:1 Degree or above
  • Supply Chain/Logistics qualification beneficial
  • 5+ years Supply Chain/Operations Management experience
  • 5 years Team Management and Leadership experience
  • Management of 3PL
  • Proven Cost Saving & Budget Management abilities
  • Experience within Temperature Controlled or Produce Supply Chain beneficial
  • Knowledge of Product Life Management in the Supply Chain
  • Strong Communicator with excellent relationship building skills
  • Flexibility to travel when required
  • Full, clean driving license essential
