Quality Manager

My client, a successful food business, supplying product to customers across the EU, is looking for a Quality Manager for their new state of the art production facility.

This is a 1 year, Maternity Cover Contract.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of HACCP based Quality Management System
  • Maintenance of BRC certification and LABACRED Certification
  • Effective record keeping and document control
  • Lead and Manage HACCP Team and activities in all matters of food safety on site, including the support the development and HACCP approval of new processes
  • Lead an effective internal auditing system working with Department Managers to ensure continuous improvement and effective and timely close of non-conformance's
  • Manage the control of product specifications and other product information on site
  • Maintain SPC data and trend analysis on key quality and compositional data, proactively reporting trends and non-conformance's to department managers
  • Act as a point for contact for quality systems guidance, training and support to QA and other departments, developing awareness and understanding of technical issues
  • Management of non-conforming ingredients/product, products under hold, reject and returns
  • Support the Technical Manager to manage and facilitate statutory body visits/audits
  • Proactive auditing and assessment of department to encourage change
  • Management of customer complaints, serious incidents and corrective actions/preventative measures
  • Drive continuous improvement in play hygiene standards through the management, maintenance and development of plant hygiene monitoring programmes
  • Understand, observe and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Provide effective team leadership for the team of Technicians in both the laboratory and the factory

Skills & Experience:

  • 3rd level qualification in a food science related discipline or similar
  • 3-5 years + experience in Quality Management within FMCG
  • Experience managing teams
  • Proven record of implementing and managing Quality Management Systems and BRC procedures
  • Experience managing internal & external audits
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills
  • Motivated and can keep calm under pressure
