Sustainability Assistant

My client, an award-winning Global Retail business, has a new opportunity within their Corporate Responsibility team in their Kildare Head Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Food Industry Professional to further impact the Organisation's ongoing commitment to Sustainability, Environment, Communities and Local Suppliers.

This highly varied role will suit a proactive, dynamic problem solver with strong attention to detail, with Quality/ Sustainability/ Corporate Responsibility experience within the Food/FMCG/Retail industry. Proficiency in Excel and a strong numerical ability is essential, this will be tested prior to interviews commencing.

This rapidly expanding business offers an attractive salary and fantastic opportunities for development and progression. The salary on offer for this role is €40,000 p.a. with guaranteed salary increments.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Progress the development, definition and implementation of the organisations Corporate Responsibility strategy
  • Ensure the processes to integrate social, environmental, ethical, human rights and consumer concerns are incorporated into the business operations
  • Proactively support the delivery of accurate CR reporting against the business’ National and International Action Plans
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of efficient CR systems and documentation
  • Continuously develop your own knowledge and understanding of CR topics within FMCG 
  • Perform research and horizon scanning on CR related topics to identity/understand industry trends and associated competitor activity

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Food Marketing & Entrepreneurship/ Food Business and Innovation/ Co-operatives, Agri-Food and Sustainable Development beneficial
  • Experience in Sustainability/ Corporate Responsibility and Quality in FMCG experience preferred
  • Familiar with Global and National Sustainability/ Corporate Responsibility initiatives in the FMCG industry
  • Working knowledge of relevant (European and National) quality standards and legislation
  • Excellent people skills and experience in working across all levels of an Organisation
  • Risk and Crisis management experience
  • Track record of rolling out new policies and procedural initiatives
  • Examples of relevant project management in a previous role
  • Prior experience working with 3rd party agencies
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and administration skills
  • Excellent IT skills - MS Excel essential
  • Full, clean drivers licence
