Maintenance Technician

My client,a highly successful Food Manufacturer located in Naas, Co. Kildare, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their expanding team.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance services to production. They must ensure that maintenance works efficiently, effectively, safely and in line with the maintenance strategy.

The ideal candidate will hold a trade qualification and 3+ years Mechanical/Electrical experience within the Food/Manufacturing industry.

This role involves 12.5hr days, evenings & nights shifts, with an hourly rate of €24/hour. The business offers excellent opportunities for progression within the group structure.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Performing electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
  • Delivering Technical support for the plant facilities and services, including compressed air, refrigeration and steam.
  • Executing the preventive maintenance and Condition Based program.
  • Providing maintenance support, entering data, updating equipment records, producing performance reports and participating in continuous improvement follow up.
  • Remaining conscious of Cost control at all times.
  • Closely monitoring line and machine performance and intervening on line as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs.
  • Regularly monitoring performance of Preventative Maintenance routines.
  • Working with equipment suppliers on new equipment and installations and modifications.
  • Providing mentoring and coaching to shift technicians in areas of strengths.
  • Updating the maintenance management system (CMMS), records of all changes, stores transactions made and work carried out.
  • Troubleshooting using PLC Programs.
  • Observing all onsite and legislative rules and regulations in terms of Food Safety and Health and Safety.

Skills, experience and qualification required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role in regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Trades qualification essential.
  • Mechanical/Electrical background in the Food industry preferred.
  • Qualification in instrumentation an advantage (temperature calibrations).
  • Multi-skilled/cross-skilled ethos.
  • Trouble-shooting experience gained in a Hi-volume environment.
  • Self-starter who can use their own initiative and will endeavour to find improvements.
  • A certain degree of flexibility to the changing needs of the business is required.
