Process Technologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Process Technologist to join one of Ireland’s most innovative Food brands, located in Dublin West. This creative and unique business supplies a range of high-quality, innovative products to key Retailers and Food Service businesses across Europe.

Working within a very passionate and collaborative NPD team, the successful candidate will work closely with Operations and Quality departments and be responsible for managing product development processes.

The ideal candidate will be an eager and enthusiastic Food Industry Professional. This is an excellent opportunity to put your own stamp on your position while making your mark on a highly successful and rapidly-advancing business. Salary €35-38k/annum depending on experience.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring new products make a smooth transition from trial and testing stages to full production, remaining aligned to a costing and production target.
  • Act as the link between the Product Development kitchen and Production.
  • Identify critical issues and watch outs pre-trial.
  • Ensure the most efficient and safe process is developed to match the product with a solution-focused attitude.
  • Schedule and manage production line trials alongside NPD, OPS and Quality teams.
  • Evaluate processes by leading post-trial reviews and reporting outcomes to all team members and making necessary adjustments to product/process.
  • Work with NPD to develop realistic critical paths, especially where new equipment or processes may be required.
  • Conduct ongoing investigations into production processes, making recommendations for improvements where necessary. Manage and deliver these improvements as part of continuous improvement objectives.
  • Ensure that Process Control System's and any Standing Operating Procedures required for product and equipment are written correctly for each new product in collaboration with NPD, Ops and Engineering.
  • Own and control PCS and Pick Sheets; implement the PCS on the floor and check regularly that PCS is reflecting NPD kitchen concept and product costing.
  • Display understanding and knowledge of ingredient composition with a continuous focus on optimising ingredients and recipe to better improve process and final product.

Skills, experience & qualification required:

  • A degree in Food Science or similar.
  • 2+ years within a similar Food Business.
  • Experience in process technology and manufacturing.
  • Technical recipe knowledge is essential.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and project management skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to determine own priorities.
  • Problem solving aptitude and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self motivated with the ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment.
