Plant Manager

My client, an award-winning, rapidly expanding Irish Food Business based in Monaghan, has created a new Plant Manager position within their state-of-the-art facility.

The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to optimise efficiencies site-wide, driving a Lean Manufacturing Culture while developing and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly strategic, commercially-minded with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute effectively to business strategy and planning and achievement of business objectives as a key member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Conduct a site review, establish site goals, strategies, and KPI’s and lead the business to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Drive a Continuous Improvement culture, mentoring yellow belt and green belt candidates across the site to embrace lean/six sigma business-wide.
  • Utilise data to recommend, design, and propose improvement initiatives that are aligned to business goals (waste reduction, cost reduction, productivity, value creation, and yield improvement), reporting on the achievement of KPIs.
  • Conduct 5S audits on a monthly basis and deliver reporting to teams implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Project Manage the implementation of Lean programs throughout the plant with a specific focus on production and planning, processes and training development.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the plant supply chain from raw material sourcing, processing through to dispatch.
  • Plan manufacturing processes and methods to generate improved plant performance and workflow optimisation and efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of operational schedules and manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet all specifications.
  • Assist Managers in the development of labor usage strategies to better utilise resources while reacting to change in production demands and deadlines.
  • Assure and support food safety and product quality initiatives for the ongoing production of safe high quality products.
  • Provide leadership to preventative maintenance teams and ensure plant environment and equipment are fit for purpose.

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

  • Third-level degree preferred.
  • Certified process improvement methodology such as Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Experience of working in a food manufacturing production environment.
  • An influential leader with exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly analytical with problem-solving ability. 
  • Experienced in cross-functional collaboration.
