Customs Assistant - Co. Kildare

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Customs Assistant to join a highly successful Global Retail business based in Kildare.

The Customs Assistant will be responsible for coordinating customs processes and procedures across various departments within the business.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Customs and will be detail oriented, strategic and highly motivated. They will possess strong communication and organisational skills and the ability to use their own initiative.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the process of customs classification
  • Liaising with external customs stakeholders to ensure efficient running of all import related tasks
  • Ensuring resolution of queries raised by purchasing and customs teams
  • Identifying areas of improvement and optimising processes
  • Checking, reviewing, analysing and presenting data
  • Cross-checking various sources of information including contracts and internal systems
  • Dealing with Irish suppliers and gathering relevant supplier information (supplier, product and account details) across all temperature regimes and product categories
  • Initiating and coordinating within the team or other departments in order to efficiently and effectively accomplish assigned tasks

Skills & experience required:

  • Experience working with customs data and knowledge of customs legislation essential
  • Customs practitioner qualification or experience as a Customs Clerk
  • Track record of rolling out new policies and procedural initiatives
  • Experience in a busy, deadline driven environment
  • Highly focused and accurate with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Team player who works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and administration skills
  • Proficient user of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Own car and full, clean drivers license may be required due to location
