Senior Financial Accountant

My client, a highly innovative and rapidly expanding Food Group based in Naas, Co. Kildare, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their Head Office team.  The successful candidate will have 5 years’ post-qualified experience, will be driven and analytical with excellent communication skills.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting reports to the wider group, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis. You will also manage regulatory returns and develop the internal controls/audit function. You will be integral in developing the Finance team over time.

This company offers excellent opportunities for development and progression within the group structure. Working hours of Mon-Fri, 08.00-16.30. Occasional travel to mainland Europe as required.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Manage the annual audit process with financial auditors
  • Produce and deliver the monthly financial reports and reconcile monthly financials to weekly management reports
  • Develop the internal audit function across all businesses
  • Review internal controls across the business, identifying and implementing necessary improvements, ensure financial compliance
  • Supervise the payroll function, including pension and health insurance administration
  • Manage the preparation and submission of annual budget for senior finance and management review, gathering necessary financial information for budget process
  • Ensure  VAT, PAYE, Customs  and other necessary external returns are prepared on a timely and accurate basis across all businesses
  • Establish good working relationships across the business
  • Complete project work and financial analysis as required, assisting the financial controller and wider business team

Qualification, skills & experience required:

  • ACCA,CIMA, ACA qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE
  • Knowledge and understanding of monthly management accounts, consolidation, budgeting, forecasting and group reporting in a manufacturing environment for a large company
  • High levels of motivation, enthusiasm & ambition
  • Excellent People Management and Stakeholder Engagement skills
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a drive to contribute to the overall improvement and success of the business
  • Excellent Excel skills with the ability to analyse and manipulate data to meet reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of an ERP System such as Microsoft Navision or Business Central would be an advantage
  • Occasional flexibility required, limited travel to Europe
