We have an exciting opportunity, for a H&S Officer, in a newly created position, with one of Ireland's fastest growing food companies.
Full-time, permanent position.
Salary: €35-40k (DOE)
Responsibilities:
- Ongoing development and implementation of improved Health and Safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Enforce the effective operation of Safety and Health practices and policies in conjunction with the site managers.
- Develop SOPs for each job.
- Chair Site Safety meetings to update all business managers on developments at site level.
- Ensure all personnel are fully safety trained and competent for the roles.
- Review risk assessments on a regular basis.
- Implement Internal Audit processes at site level and measure performance.
- Safety report to be presented each month to the Operations Manager for discussion with the Site H&S Team.
- Set up regular unscheduled audits on sites. This will involve both individual audits and in the company of various personnel from the team.
- Enforce safety policies by identifying breaches and reporting the same to the Operations Manager and HR Manager.
- Liaise with the company insurers, HSA, and other outside agencies in relation to H&S matters.
- Environmental compliance, monitoring and reporting.
- Ensuring company and Origin Green targets are being met.
- Establish and embed waste management best practices into the culture and day-to-day activities.
- Report on weekly and monthly KPIs set out by site management.
Requirements:
- 3rd level qualification in Safety and Health/ IOSH qualification.
- Two plus years experience.
- Background in safety and health ideally food and/or manufacturing environments.
- Strong communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative without immediate hands on support.
- Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge status quo.
- Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point and other common software tools.
- Experience in a training environment would be beneficial.
