Supplier Technical Manager

A highly successful Global Food Brand is seeking a Supplier Technical Manager to join the business on a 18-month maternity cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work with this market-leading Irish business in this highly strategic position.

Reporting to the Group Technical Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving strategic projects, managing change, leading and engaging the high-performing Auditing team and ensuring achievement of Technical/Quality auditing performance metrics across a base of over 400 Suppliers.

This position will involve working from home with occasional travel and visits to the Dublin West site in the future.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic direction, projects and results of the Technical Supply Chain function
  • Develop and implement quality auditing procedures, including auditing techniques for data integrity assessments, policies, technical papers, risk assessments, business continuity plans (TACCP/VACCP) and quality agreements
  • Oversee the establishment of the enhanced auditing training program, auditing standards and auditing development plans
  • Provide Quality Assurance review and/or approval for supplier-related activities impacting the Business, including changes/deviations and Technical agreements
  • Conduct internal and external auditing of suppliers/vendors and third parties
  • Ensure continuity across auditing systems/processes to integrate the various sites
  • Deliver timely and accurate communication/ escalation of critical audit observations
  • Collect, collate and report on relevant Technical/Quality auditing performance metrics
  • Ensure continuous development, coaching and cross-training of staff
  • Develop and maintain a positive, proactive relationship with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Represent the Technical Supply Chain team in multi-departmental meetings and project teams
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements

Skills, qualifications and experience required:

  • Food Science/ Agricultural Science degree or similar
  • 8+ years’ Food Manufacturing experience with 2+ years in a leadership position
  • Lead auditor training essential (ISO 9001, ISO 22000, BRC, IFS etc)
  • Direct experience overseeing Supplier Quality Systems preferred
  • Influential and strategic with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively plan, schedule, execute and track complex, cross-functional projects
  • Ability to speak, present data, and defend approaches in front of audiences and inspectors
  • Excellent knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Experienced in building and developing high-performing teams
  • Flexibility to travel overseas occasionally
