HR & Training Officer

Role Purpose:

To assist with the effective delivery of a range of HR services and to provide clerical support to the HR Department and site. To lead, co-ordinate and develop the site training plan and provide training on specific activities.

Role Responsibilities:

HR Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment - develop job descriptions and person specifications, prepare advertisements and engage with various platforms and agencies. Review applications, support the hiring manager with shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates
  • Equality Monitoring, to include the preparation of the annual monitoring return and 3 year review through PAMS.
  • Manage and deliver an effective induction programme for new personnel.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of an up-to-date HR Information system
  • Use of SAP HR system to carry out weekly Time and Attendance checks & payroll preparation tasks to include sickness, gross to net payroll report
  • Collate attendance statistics and assist Managers in the management of absenteeism on site including liaison with Occupational Health Services
  • Use of SAP to control department invoicing processes

Training & Development Responsibilities:

  • Working with the HR Manager and Department Managers to develop the training strategy and plan for the site to meet the needs of the business
  • Review training course content to ensure it meets the requirement of the business
  • Ensure all training is recorded appropriately and that the training matrix is up-to-date ensuring that it captures and displays the competency of each operator and identifies their training needs
  • Review and plan ahead for all regulatory training to ensure compliance with legislation and the requirements of our customers
  • Develop and deliver in-house training courses particularly in relation to HR procedures and processes

Health and Safety:

  • Proactively support the on-going development of safety through effective leading KPIs
  • Progressively make the work environment safer through Risk assessments, hazard registers and elimination of hazards in the workplace.

Qualifications and Training:

  • 3rd level education in a HR/Training/L&D related discipline.
  • Must be IT proficient and competent in use of Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheets
  • Previous experience in SAP HR software packages and HR Platforms (Success Factors or similar)
  • Train the Trainer Course
  • Expert in using pivot tables, conditional formatting of excel reports
  • CIPD qualified
  • IOSH desirable
  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in a HR Function, ideally at officer level, gained in a manufacturing environment
  • Generalist experience in key areas of Human Resources, specifically Recruitment, HRIS, Employee Relations
  • Experience in working in a dynamic environment including excellent time management, attention to detail, prioritisation and working to deadlines
  • Experience in designing and delivering of training courses
  • Ability to compile reports for regulatory review
  • Previous experience working within a food or fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge & understanding of Human Resource best practice and core legislative requirements
  • Good working knowledge of Environmental Management systems, namely ISO 14001/IPPC
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work to deadlines and using own initiative
  • Able to display initiative and problem solving skills
  • Proactive with strong organisation and planning skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate
