Field Sales Rep - Food Industry. Dublin & Cork Based

We have an excellent opportunity for a Field Sales Representative to join the team of one of Ireland's fastest growing food companies.

As a Field Sales Representative within the Commercial Team, you are responsible for managing the company’s interests with customers at store level, while also supporting the National Account Manager in growing sales and ensuring availability of both branded and private label product lines.

The role involves making daily, weekly and monthly visits to the key retail, independent and foodservice customers. You will report to The National Account Manager and will be tasked to achieve sales, margin, and retailer category growth targets through optimisation of current listings and improving existing shelf space.

The head office is in Co. Tipperary but the role will involve visiting stores from Dublin to Cork depending on the daily routes supplied. You will be required to visit the company HQ when necessary and a minimum of once every two weeks for a sales meeting.

  • Responsible for managing company interests with customers at store level.
  • Daily, weekly and monthly scheduled store visits to key retail, independent and foodservice customers.
  • Increase market share by maximising the presence of the product range in retail stores.
  • Implementation of brand activation plans and customer planograms at store level.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with customers at store level and feed back the information to the sales team.
  • Promote brand awareness, positive product impressions and increase sales through product demonstration and consumer engagement.
  • Compiling and reporting SKU facing data per store per visit.
  • Compiling information on competitors and other market data as and when required.
  • Attend customer meetings with the Commercial Team and implement follow up actions from meetings efficiently.
  • Occasional preparation of customer samples and organisation of delivery to the customer.
  • Attend Trade Shows on the company’s behalf.
  • Liaise with the sales department weekly regarding customer specific promotions and new listings.
  • Develop a relationship with each relevant member of the team in the customer stores you visit.
  • Actively engage with the National Account Manager with ideas for continuous improvement of the department.
  • You will be required to conduct tastings at store level at various times as agreed with the National Account Manager.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • 1 + years’ experience working with FMCG, ideally within the fresh food sector.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Efficient planning, time management and organisation skills.
  • Must have a full clean driver’s licence.
  • Passion for food and sales with proven negotiation skills.
  • Timely and accurate reporting, showing initiative and ability to identify selling opportunities.
  • A confident self-starter who can work on own initiative.
  • Able to work independently.
