Health & Safety Coordinator

We have an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety Coordinator to join a Leading Food Producer based in Cavan.

Reporting to the risk manager onsite, the Health & Safety Coordinator will support the site production management and supervisory team in the elimination, reduction, and control of hazards to people, process, and property by maintaining and developing the Risk Management System.

Responsibilities:

  • Be aware of current and new legislation, COP’s, standards, and guidelines. 
  • Maintaining, developing, communicating, and enforcing Risk Management System related policies, procedures and forms.
  • Support site departmental teams (QFSE team, production managers & supervisors) in the update of, execution and compliance with Risk Management System requirements.
  • Provide weekly reports regarding RMS development, practice, and compliance with advice on necessary controls to reduce and eliminate safety risks and noncompliance issues.
  • Attend management daily review meeting (DRM) on a weekly basis to give an update on site risk management control.
  • Work with training department and department managers in training out/refresher training of risk assessments and SOP’s to all operators.
  • Work with the quality, food safety & environmental technical team on BBS to acknowledge,encourage and monitor compliance.
  • Ensure accident & near miss investigation procedures are followed and completed.
  • Liaise with official regulatory bodies (Health & Safety Authority), EPA and insurers on H&S&W&E matters and report accidents with >3-days.

Requirements:

  • BSc/Diploma in health & safety, environmental, food science, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in an EHSC role or similar position within a FMG work environment.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, guidelines, COP’s, and best practices.
  • Working knowledge and ability to operate, maintain, and develop a site risk management system.
  • Experience in writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office - PowerPoint, Excel, and safety management software.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
