Maintenance Technician

We have a number of excellent opportunities for Maintenance Technicians to join a leading food manufacturer based in Kildare. 

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technicians will be part of a multi-disciplined team of Fitters & Electricians in ensuring all maintenance work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner.

• Full time, permanent role
• Attractive hourly rate, shift premium & paid overtime

 

3-shift cycle:

• 1st week mornings 6am -2:30pm
• 2nd week evening 2:30pm – 11pm
• 3rd & 4th week weekends. Friday 8 hours (8am-4:30pm)  Saturday 12 hours (6am-6pm) Sunday 12 hours (6am-6pm)

 

Responsibilities:

• Providing maintenance support, both reactive repairs and planned maintenance 
• Carry out installations and commissioning of plant/ equipment & trouble shooting of same
• Carry out basic programming and diagnostic of plant and equipment
• Contribute to the efficiency of the operation by maximizing uptime of machinery & minimise downtime in production and utility areas
• Carry out the execution of the preventive maintenance programs
• Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment, installations, and modifications
• Assist the Health & Safety team in carrying out risk assessments of new & existing machines
• Provide general maintenance support as designated by supervisors/ manager to include any or all the following areas: Process equipment; HVAC equipment; Refrigeration; Packaging Equipment
• Analysing plant downtime levels and implementing effective strategies to increase uptime

 

Requirements:

• Relevant third level qualification in Engineering or time-served Electrician or fitter (Electrical/ Mechanical Qualification/ Mechanical Experience)
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role, planned and reactive maintenance skills
• PLC/ PC Control Systems experience
• Previous experience at identifying & execute machine / line improvement projects (lean initiatives)
• Experience working with Quality and Health & Safety departments
• Experience of machine control diagnostics
• Have experience of a wide range of Motor Control Systems & Process Temperature Controls & Pneumatics
• Strong industrial mechanical service and repair skills
• Experience in a similar maintenance role within an FMCG plant (food production environment essential)
