Electrical Engineer

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer has arisen with our client, Europe’s fastest growing food company, based in Co. Longford.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager on site. Open to candidates with mechanical or electrical experience.
Shifts:
- 12 hour shifts rotating from days to nights every other week.
- Shift patterns are: 6am to 6pm & 6pm to 6 am (typically work 7 shifts out of 14 days).
- Working 2 weekends a month (1 weekend day shift & 1 evening night shift).

Responsibilities:
- To ensure efficient running of the production lines.
- To ensure that the goals of the engineering department are achieved.
- Maintenance of records and H&S / HACCP compliance.
- Proactive role in correcting problems around the plant.
- To follow up on any Electrical / Mechanical issues and consult on production issues.
- Work in partnership with the production team to achieve operational targets.
- Closely monitor lines and machine performance.
- Proactive role online as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs.
- Promotes a continuous improvement agenda.
- PM schedule – weekly, monthly, and quarterly in conjunction with production manager.
- Be the key contact for engineering support each day. Awareness of issues and performance is critical.
- Health and Safety – be a champion in this area providing expertise and input.
- Involved in daily reviews, weekly work order reviews with production manager, and weekly downtime review with the Engineering manager.
- Attend shift handovers with the production supervisors at the start of each shift.
Requirements:
- Third Level Engineering Qualification would be an advantage or Recognised Electrical Qualification (City & Guild, or National Cert.).
- At least 3 years previous experience preferably in a Food or Pharma environment.
- Experience in Electrical Services, Control and Computer Networks.
- Experience in Line Support & Troubleshooting.
- Aptitude for both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Special Skills:
- Electrical Installation, MV & LV Electrical Systems.
- PLC Experience (Siemens S7).
- Proven knowledge of Computerised Engineering systems.
- Good people and communication skills.
- Experience and involvement in Engineering related Projects.
