R&D Technologist

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a R&D Technologist to join a large dedicated supplier in the Food Industry, the company currently supplies world-leading food brands.

This is an opportunity for growth with exposure to state-of-the-art food research and manufacturing environment, world leading innovation partners and research organisations, and diverse protein product development and applications.

The position will be part of multidisciplinary Science & Innovation team and you will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact in their core scientific understanding, initiate creative product development, and develop into leadership roles. 


Full-Time, Permanent role.

Negotiable salary plus healthcare & pension benefits.

39 hours per week, Mon. - Fri.



  • Designs and executes experimentation/trials
  • Work closely with R&D Project Managers and advises on trial design, timelines, potential hurdles, and trials improvement
  • Documents results in R&D trial notes
  • Effectively presents data/results to R&D team to drive decisions on projects during the Develop phase
  • Evaluate new ingredients, materials, products, or processes contributing to R&D capability building
  • Prepare and update specifications and SOPs 
  • Contribute to key R&D knowledge building and other innovation activities in the Discover phase of the R&D Innovation process
  • Work closely with S&I Technologists to transfer R&D knowledge for industrial scale-up
  • Work with cross-functional departments to drive the execution of collaborative project tasks


Knowledge and experience required:

  • General understanding of food applications and processing
  • Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, or related field
  • Ability to apply principles of logical/scientific thinking to a wide range of problems
  • Ability to operate a variety of standard laboratory and pilot equipment and instrumentation (such as food production equipment, pH meters, balances, etc.)
  • Understanding of GMP and Food Safety concepts
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percent, ppm and basic algebraic equations
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
