Exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager (Maternity contract) to join a large group supplying key brands globally into Retail and Foodservice. This is a very successful food manufacturing business with an excellent reputation as an employer and as a supplier.

The purpose of the role is to lead the Technical Team and Operational Team at Site level, developing and delivering against set processes and practices, and helping to ensure that products are manufactured to meet the food safety and quality standards required both by law and by our customers through verification of standards.
Reporting to the Site Director with a dotted line reporting to the Group Technical Director, the job-holder will liaise on a daily basis with the Production and Engineering teams, and with all other disciplines in the business as required.
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Develop and manage all aspects of Food Safety Management including HACCP and Risk Management, Allergens, Microbiology, Pest Control and Safe Product Design
Maintain the Quality Control system through Legal Awareness, Review of Process Controls, Incident Management, Auditing, Root Cause Analysis, Food defence and Supplier quality management
Corrective and Preventive action management through root cause analysis
Internal Auditing including development of audit programs
Manage Product Identification and Traceability
Encourage the training and continuous development of all members of the Site Technical team
Achievement of BRC and customer audit top grades where possible
Assess and deliver both suppliers and own company's product specifications and customer requirements
Act as a key contact with customers' auditors; responsible for ensuring management of execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications and Codes of Practice
Requirements:
Solid experience with technical systems and standards and management within manufacturing
Experience of working with Operations and Supply Chain Management, Logistic & Planning, Change Management, Project Management, Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
Strong track record of successful team management
Experience of managing key capital projects as part of a daily role
