Environmental Manager - Maternity Contract

Our client, one of Ireland's fastest growing food companies, is seeking an Environmental Manager to join their team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.


Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Environmental Manager will coordinate, improve, and manage the environmental systems and practices with the company.


This role will be based on site in Co. Tipperary.
Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm


Contract: 7 months - 1 year 


Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. 


Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Environmental compliance monitoring and reporting.
  • Monitoring and management of the effluent waste systems on both sites to ensure compliance with discharge of wastewater licencing limits.
  • Full management of the site DAF system.
  • Ensuring company and Origin Green sustainability targets are being met.
  • Establish and embed waste management best practices into the culture and day-to-day activities.
  • Develop relationships both internally (employees) and with key external (safety bodies, government agencies, auditors, suppliers) stakeholders soliciting their inputs to enhance and develop Environmental policies and standards within the business.
  • Responsible for identifying and interpreting all Environmental legislation and ensuring that both sites are compliant.
  • Implement Internal Audit processes at site level and measure performance. Ensure any issues highlighted are actioned.
  • Collate data weekly from the effluent treatment system and report on same – lab test results, flow readings etc.
  • Record data on waste management on site – effluent disposal costs.



  • Strong Production background with 2 – 3 years Environmental Management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills with the ability to facilitate and coach.
  • Ability to identify risks and proritise tasks.
  • Organised, energetic and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative. 
  • Ability to identify continuous improvement initiatives and ability to challenge the status quo.
  • Strong IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and other common software tools. Be able to produce and present data through reports.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
