Senior Maintenance Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Maintenance Manager to join a Leading & Rapidly Expanding Food Business based in Co. Galway. 

 

Reporting to the MD and managing one Maintenance Technician. 

 

The Manager will oversee all installation, repair and upkeep operations of the company’s facilities. You will be the one to ensure that your colleagues have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to budget.


The manager will have a solid understanding of Multivac Tray sealing and Thermoforming machinery. They will also understand Risco/Handtmann and Sealed Air machinery and other equipment onsite. They will be well-versed in all maintenance processes and health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting etc.

 

The goal is to ensure the company facilities are well-cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations.

 

Full-Time, Permanent Position.

Salary is Negotiable, Depending on Experience.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop preventative maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Ensure all machinery has a maintenance schedule and factory service book with manual.
  • Ensure all machinery is set up for daily production and stripped down correctly for sanitation.
  • Ensure all production staff are trained in the safe use of all machines and training sheets are completed and filed to employee records.
  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings and equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
  • Allocate workload and supervise any specific staff.
  • Monitor and record equipment inventory codes and spare parts.
  • Place orders when necessary to approved suppliers.
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance; this should entail three quotes.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure outside contractors have specific workwear and PPE when onsite.
  • Sign off any work from outside contractors that it is complete and fit for service.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
  • Ensure health and safety policies are complied with.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous Maintenance/Engineering Management or Service Engineer Experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment. 
  • Food Manufacturing experience is an advantage.
  • A relevant 3rd level engineering qualification / Trade Qualification would be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with computerised preventative maintenance programmes would be a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
