Our clients, a Leading Food Producer, is seeking an Environmental Manager to join their business in Co. Monaghan.

 

The Environmental Manager will lead the environment team and will be responsible for coordinating and implementing company wide environmental strategy. 

 

They will soon be commencing construction of a new facility, so the Environmental Manager will have key input and responsibilities with the migration to this exciting new facility.

 

In the role, you will report directly to the Head of Operations but will have a very strong link with various other functions/departments to coordinate a smooth operation of the WTTP at the site.

 

Full-Time, Permanent Opportunity.

Key responsibilities:

• Industrial Emissions (IE) Licence & IPPC licence - maintain and implement all aspects of the Company’s EPA and NIEA Licenses.
• Upkeep and constant revision of the Environmental Management System with a view towards continual improvement in environmental management in the organisation.
• Monitoring of all emissions and emission points in accordance with the requirements of said license.
• Generation of reports in response to the legislative requirements inherent in the license.
• Implementing policies for the handling of all wastes generated by the organisation incorporating ultimate disposal, recycling and reuse of the different waste products generated in the organisation.
• Energy Management - reviewing energy supply contracts and negotiating new contracts.
• WWTP Management - operational supervision of the running of the Company’s waste water treatment plant. Directing the plant operators on the ideal running conditions to achieve compliance with the licensing conditions.
• Management of the Company’s obligation to recycle its packaging waste via collation of all sales data and incoming packaging data and subsequent submission of this data to REPAK on a bi-annual basis.
• Management of the operational status of all Waste Contractors utilised by the Company and overseeing the legal removal of all waste materials from the site.
• Overseeing the operation of sludge treatment and removal, including annual review of waste contractors and procedures.
• Assessment of and research into emerging environmental and renewable energy technologies with a view to ascertaining their suitability.
• Managing an environmental budget which is reported on monthly.
• Maintain membership of Origin Green by striving to improve our carbon footprint, implementing energy initiatives and annual reporting on same.
• Project Managing the installation of any new environmental equipment.
• Leading by example in everything you do, ensuring the company’s values are upheld in all areas of work.

 

Key Attributes & Requirements:

• To be successful in this role you will need to ideally have at least 3 years similar experience in environmental management. 
• You must hold an honours degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications) in Environmental Science or equivalent.
• Other skills that will be needed for the role are strong competence in dealing with multiple stakeholders and the ability to compile, prepare and present reports and presentations and to draft correspondence adeptly. Naturally the role involves leadership skills, project management skills and communication skills that will all be expected to be at a proficient level.
