Assistant Technical Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client, a successful food manufacturer in Co. Dublin, who are on the lookout for an Assistant Technical Manager to join their team.
Reporting to the Technical and Quality Group Manager, you will work with the Technical Team and Production to ensure optimum food quality and safety.
Full-time, permanent position.
Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and continuous improvement of the FSQMS.
- Be a key food safety player during the introduction of new products and new processes/ equipment.
- Highlight and measure gap analysis in processes to ensure compliance to food safety and food quality standards.
- Establish relationship with supporting food safety bodies such as FSAI, Campden BRI and other relevant governing bodies.
- Key role in the execution of second and third party audits (EHO, DoA, Weights & Measures, FSSC 22000, BRC & RSPO).
- Customer complaints – consumer communication, investigation and close-out.
- Carry out testing of the traceability and recall systems.
- TACCP and VACCP systems management.
- Management of Feed Management System and waste operation.
- Manage microbiological and environmental testing schedule.
- Management of the calibration schedule and associated tasks.
- Raw material and finished product analysis (NIR, Colorimeter, Texture Analyser & C-Cell).
- Communication of the product scoring algorithm results weekly to senior management.
- Liaise with pest control and ensure timely close-outs of non-conformities.
- Finished product specifications, customer specifications and VAQs.
- Vendor approval and monitoring organise and maintain vendor reviews.
- Management of the non-conformance log incl. tracking, trending and close-out.
- Trending of dept. KPIs (complaints, pest control, product quality parameters, water absorption, CCPS/OPRPs etc.).
- Organise and facilitate competitor assessments & store visits.
- Deputise for Technical Manager when absent.
Requirements:
- Food Science Degree or similar.
- 3 years’ minimum experience in food manufacturing environment.
- Excellent knowledge of legislative requirements for food manufacturing.
- Minimum level 5 HACCP training and internal auditor training. Lead auditor training an advantage.
- Knowledge of TACCP, VACCP and PAS 96 requirements.
- Experience in supplier audits.
- Knowledge of FSSC 22000, RSPO and BRC standard requirements.
- Previous experience of participation in a third party audit is essential .
- Able to build effective working relationships inside and outside the Company at various levels and accommodate working styles.
- Strong organisational, planning, time management, project management, problem-solving, and anticipatory skill.
- The capacity to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and be flexible.
- The ability to work on own initiative and as part of an interdependent team.
- Proven track record of delivering work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
