Quality Assurance Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Assurance Assistant to join a fast-paced Quality team in a packaging plant based in Bandon, Cork.

 

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Quality team to ensure compliance with the food safety requirements set by both the company and regulatory authorities.
• Support the overall management of the food safety and quality management system at the site.
• Assist in the maintenance of audit standards across the site.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of QA systems, procedures, and documentation.
• Report to senior management any specific breakdown in the food safety and quality management system.
• Respond to complaints and report trends.
• Perform a variety of Quality checks and document results.
• Perform routine traceability checks.
• Report all quality issues on the production floor to the Quality Manager.
• Support the maintenance of the HACCP based system on site.
• Support the maintenance of standards on site such as BRC etc.
• Ensure all product and process batch paperwork is maintained and follow up on out of specification batch records accordingly.
• Assist in performing checks and internal audits as outlined in the Quality Management System.
• Assist in any external audits as required.
• Identify training requirements within the factory to meet the quality standards.
• Recognise and implement opportunities for Quality improvement in both manufacturing and business processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects. 
• Compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required.

 

Skills and experience required:

• Relevant third level qualification and/or previous experience working in a quality role in the food manufacturing industry.
• Previous experience or work experience in a Food Production facility.
• Knowledge of HACCP and BRC.
• Have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Word. PowerPoint etc.)
• Methodical with strong attention to detail.
• Analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.
