Our client, a fast-moving, Internationally focused food company is seeking an ambitious Head of Technical and NPD to join their experienced and dynamic team in West Dublin. The company owns a portfolio of leading brands and supplies a wide range of food products to leading Food service, Retail and Industrial customers.

This is a senior management role which is attractive to an experienced candidate with Vision, who has strong Technical expertise and can successfully manage a highly qualified team of technical and NPD personnel in Ireland and abroad.

 

Main Responsibilities:

• Leading and motivating a successful team of NPD & Technical personnel.
• Ensuring the business is ahead of the curve and compliant with legal requirements in its target EU and UK markets– to include labelling, claims, packaging and ingredients.
• Project management for new range development.
• Direct communication with senior key customer and supplier technical and NPD management.
• Ensuring the company’s own BRC standard is implemented and enhanced.
• Product evaluation - testing and tasting of meat and non-meat based ranges.
• Monitoring the market – suppliers, competitors and retailer activity.
• From time-to-time visiting suppliers, personnel and trade shows in EU & UK.

 

Requirements:

• Third level degree in Food Science or related discipline.
• 14+ years food industry experience.
• Experience in implementing long-term, efficient quality control and NPD systems inside a dynamic, fast-growing business.
• Understands how production plants think– experience in negotiating with QA & NPD in supplier factories.
• Flexible and able to travel from time to time.
