British Retail Consortium names new leadership trio

KPMG head of retail Helen Dickinson will take over from Stephen Robertson when the BRC’s outgoing director general departs at the end of the year.

She will work alongside new chairman Ian Cheshire, the chief executive of Kingfisher group. Cheshire will succeed Rob Templeman as BRC chair on 1 October.

Templeman, meanwhile, will act as deputy chairman for a year. The BRC said the move would help “provide continuity”, with Lucy Neville-Rolfe stepping down from the deputy role.

“Against the current economic backdrop, the BRC’s work in supporting retailers to develop their businesses and tackling the challenges that they, and the sector, face is more crucial than ever,” said Dickinson.

“My experience at KPMG has enabled me to work closely with a wide range of retailers across many areas, as well as consider developments across the market as a whole, which I hope will prove an excellent grounding for this role.”

Cheshire added: “As a long-standing supporter, I’ve seen the effectiveness of the BRC’s work in providing a united voice on the issues that matter to retailers.”
