Up to 70 new jobs could be created in Donegal with development of one of the world’s largest bio-marine ingredients facility in Killybegs.
The project is the result of a collaboration between the Killbegs Fishermen’s Association and a Norwegian Science and Technology company.
The €35m facility will create up to 70 jobs and 50 jobs in the construction phase.
Simon Coveney the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine welcomed the plans saying “This facility will become a ‘game-changer’ in the seafood sector. It will position Killybegs and Ireland as a global leader in supply and research around new products and benefits from protein, oils and calcium associated with the sea.”
The plant is scheduled to become fully operational by the 1st of January 2017.
